Patio Paradise Fountains

Fountain Garden 2018

We moved to Tarpon Springs in the Fall of 2016.  I brought with me my collection of fountains that I had on display at our previous home in Safety Harbor.  It took a while, but I finally managed to place all the fountains in their present location.  Following through on the advice of my older daughter, Brandy, I have jumped into social media.  I have posted several videos to both Facebook and YouTube and here on my updated, mobile friendly website including the video that follows below: Patio Paradise Fountain Garden 2018.  Below the video, I will tell you details about each of the seventeen fountains in the video above, as well as my Blue Ball light and lily pond. (If you have trouble with the quality of the video here, find it on YouTube directly, where the quality seems best)

One:  Heart Fountain with ledges, white color.  It sits on an 8″ base.  It has a twelve volt light.  Approximate price: $300-400, range depends on variables such as pick up, delivery, shipping, packing, with or without light, etc.

Two:  Infinity Fountain: 360 degree presentation. This design evolved over a period of time.  For the full story visit my Infinity Fountain and other pictures visit my Infinity Fountain page.  Price range $3,000 to 3,500.

Three:  My St. Francis Fountain is another fountain that evolved over time.  Originally it was made for a client in S. Tampa.   St. Francis wasn’t a part of that original design.  The large piece to the left and the simple bubbler to the right were originally made to pour into the clients in ground, prefab, irregular shaped pond.  A landscaper called me about ten years ago to ask me if I was interested in buying it back; a new homeowner was paying him to remove the fountain!  Yes! I was in a financial position to purchase it back and was glad to!  It has three vitreous glass mosaic frogs on it.  I was living in Safety Harbor and was working on my display garden. My partner, John, is Catholic; I have a Jewish/Jehovah’s Witness/Unitarian Universalist spiritual background.  I really like the meanings associated with St. Francis as patron saint of animals and his association with the natural environment.  I decided to mate the two pieces to one of my lily ponds and make a St. Francis statue the centeral focal point.  It is surrounded by three of my lily ponds planted with aquatic tropical lilies: a blue Dauben lily, a night blooming red lily, and a pink lily named “Madam Gana Walska” (Here is some fascinating information about Gana Walska, and her gardens Lotusland).  Price range $3,000 to 4,000.

Four:  Blue Ball.  We recently purchased a beautiful fire pit at a craft show at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs.  It was made by the company:  Southern Fire Pits, out of Mayo, FL.  First we were going to just put a plant in it.  But plants hid the nautical imagery, fish small and large, anchors and chains, compass rose, turtle, etc. So we came up with this really neat idea to place some sort of light in it.  John had the idea of a blue beach ball.  I had an old ring that was designed to support of wok.  We placed an LED  12 volt light under it.  To raise it up, I built a special base from one of my lily pond shapes turned upside down. Magical!  As you see in my Garden Video, I associate the blue ball with our Blue Marble home, planet earth.

Five:  A large three piece fountain with 12 volt lights in the white color. The main pool in front where the pump is located is crafted from one of my lily pond rocks.  The upper part is raised up on a base to attain a height of 44″.  It was originally built in the mid 1990’s for a friend who I knew through the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Orlando.  We had many great party’s in the hot tub room where the fountain was located.  After a few years they moved to a smaller home and gave the fountain back to me.  It spent a couple of years in the courtyard that is now the location of Cappy’s pizza in S. Seminole Heights in Tampa, FL.  For a few years when I had no room for it with me it found a temporary home with a friend in Atlantic Beach, near Jacksonville, FL.  Finally, I had room for it at our home in Safety Harbor.  This illustrates the portability of my fountains.  Price range $1500 to 2,000.

Six:  A lily pond, white color, planted with aquatics including a Dauben lily and a purple elephant ear plant (taro), Price range $200-300.

Seven:  A Harmony 30″ fountain with a 12 volt light in my white color.  Price range $500 to 600.

Eight:  A Tranquility fountain with a 12 volt light in my golden buff color.  It is 33″ tall x 32″ deep x 45″ wide.  Price range $900 to 1,000.

Nine:   “Shapes” is my contemporary geometric design.  Here is whole page devoted to my Shapes fountain.  It is a little over 54″ tall and the base, an ellipse shape, is 50″ wide. Price range $1,500 to 2,000.

Ten:  Heart ledged bird bath fountain.   It sits on a Pi pedestal that is 12″ tall.  White color.  Years ago two clients at the same art show asked if I could raise the edges on the heart ledged fountain so that the birds could bathe in the pools. It continues to amaze me how many clients really get into my design concept. Their imagination has lead to some really amazing designs!

Eleven:  Heart fountain in my golden buff color with a Dolphin “spitter”.  The dolphin is a bronze statue fountain that crossed my path back in the late 1990’s.  There was a business in St. Pete, FL that was looking for ways to market two different bronze dolphin statue fountains (“spitters”, as they are called in the industry).  The other dolphin was about three feet tall.  Click here to visit my page devoted to this fountain and others fountains with larger Dolphin spitters.  I form the concrete of the fountain to fit the dolphin perfectly.  There are two pumps.  Another client gave me an underwater light kit.  I am amazed every time I look up at the fountain at night or when I look out from the bedroom and see the railing with the light flickering, just how cool it looks!

Twelve:  Heart fountain with two planters, in white.  Price range $200 to 300.

Thirteen:  “Cloud Forest” mosaic fountain.  Inspired by a trip to Costa Rica in 1989. It has 100 hours of vitreous glass mosaic inlay.  Soon I will post and link to a page that details this fountain.

Fourteen:  A miniature Sand Boil fountain.  15″ x 18″ oval shaped. It has a small 12 volt light built in with a small stone that covers the light. Here’s a  link to a page that tells the story of my sand boil fountains, with DIY information.

Fifteen:  A Harmony 30″ scale fountain with 12 volt lights and vitreous glass mosaics I call “Flights of Fancy”.

Sixteen:  Clam Shell fountain. 15″ x 18″ oval. White color  Price about $200

Seventeen:  The Rose fountain. 15″ x 18″ oval. Buff color. Price about $200.

Eighteen:  Small charcoal fountain sitting on a Pi pedestal that raises it up 12″.  It has three small 12 volt lights that are covered by small form fitting stone covers. It has sparkling glass chips in the coquina shell finish.   I built it in 1993, the year I turned 40.  This was one of my attempts at making small fountains before I came up with the Heart fountain design.

Nineteen:  The Wave fountain,  buff color with 12 volt light.  The design evolved from a collaboration back in the late 1990’s with another artist.  She was commissioned to create a bird bath fountain with copper leaves for the water to fall from.  She asked me to create a concrete bowl that her design could sit in.  It gave me the idea to make a fountain based on the round bowl I created for her.  Later on, when I was working on designs for juried fine art shows, I brought back the round bowl shape idea; it evolved into the Wave design.  This one has three areas for either planters or flat rock inserts for candles.  I have displayed various art pieces in the center where the water falls from the top; Click here to go to The Wave fountain page that shows some of them.
