Serenity

Oblong shape 30″ scale, $500-600

I built my first Patio Paradise Fountain, with the little miniature lights, sitting on the coffee table, in March 1984. I now call it the Serenity shape.

Harmony

Corner Shape 30″ scale, $500-600

My first client looked at my Oblong Serenity shape and said, “It’s nice, but I need mine to sit in a corner.” So my first sale, to a florist, was a corner shaped fountain I now call Harmony. Most of my designs have been at the suggestion of the client or the demands of location.

Tranquility

This Heart fountain was a recent challenge. The client likes salamanders, lizards.

Story of the Heart Fountain

For many years I called my 20″, 30″, and 36″ tall fountains: Small, Medium (Oblong or Corner shaped), and Large. When I started making even smaller fountains, calling them “Small”, “Smaller”, and “Smallest” just wouldn’t do! The names Clam Shell, Rose, and Miniature Sand Boil, were truly descriptive of the shapes of the fountains. From then on it was apparent that I needed to come up with names for my Four Classic Designs. I thought back to the time I was delivering a Small Fountain to the home of the Rev. Marni Harmony. As I was setting it up in her home, she smiled and said “Joe, I just love the way you put the heart shape in the second pool from the top.” I looked at it and saw the heart shape for the first time! “Total coincidence,” I told her. Many of my friends would say there’s no such thing as coincidence. At any rate, the name fit! Once I changed the name of the “Small Fountain” to the Heart Fountain, the names Serenity, Harmony, and Tranquility, flowed naturally for the other sizes.
